DETAILS

The great thing about living on such a big planet is that there’s plenty of Mother Nature to go around. For every person, there’s an acre of land to be explored or mile of trail to be hiked.

Tinley Park is the perfect place for you to grab your own personal slice of nature. Have an outdoor adventure inside one of our many forest preserves, or take a hike along any number of beautiful walking trails. Go fishing, have a picnic, ride a bike, and even saddle up and go horseback riding, all without ever stepping foot outside Tinley Park!

Anglers will love picking a pier and casting off at Centennial Park, 7601 W. 167th St., Tinley Park. Walkers have miles of paths and a footbridge to enjoy, and those with a more competitive streak can enjoy basketball and volleyball courts. Pack a lunch and have a picnic, or grab your board and hang 10 at a skate park.

Lace up your hiking books and traverse the 22-mile-long public trail at Old Plank Road, which is so large it covers both Cook and Will counties. You can journey along Tinley Creek Trail system’s three paved loops, which take visitors over gently rolling hills, through prairies and forests, and alongside wetlands and ravines.

Adventure also awaits at Forest View Farms, 16717 S. Lockwood Ave, Tinley Park. In addition to horseback riding, you’ll also be able to take trail rides, pony rides and hayrides, and even mingle with some forest friends with a petting zoo.

While we’re on the topic of four-legged friends, dog lovers will be able to unleash even more fun at Simba & Nala’s Dog Park at 19900 S. 80th Ave., Tinley Park, and Canine Campus Dog Park at 18200 S. 84th Ave., Tinley Park. Dogs can roam free without a leash at both parks to get some exercise and party with other pooches.

August is a beautiful time of year, when Mother Nature is at her summer best. Get outside and join her for all the outdoor fun you can handle! Learn all about it at VsitTinleyPark.com.
