DETAILS

We don’t know about you, but when we hear the phrase “living room,” we picture carpets, big-screen TVs, and large, comfy couches you can sink into after a long day at work. What we don’t think of is artificial turf, concert stages, and ice rinks that transform into a water feature in the summer.

Yet that’s exactly what Tinley Park’s upcoming new living room will be- an assortment of great amenities that together will help create a place for people to congregate and enjoy music, fun and camaraderie, all right in the heart of Tinley Park.

OK, so maybe we’re using the term “living room” a bit loosely here, but you get the idea. When it opens in 2025, the nearly two-acre Harmony Square Plaza just east of Oak Park Avenue and North Street will be the ultimate place to enjoy live music on a 30×50′ concert stage, ice skating, curling lanes, fire pits, a water feature, and an adaptive space that can be configured to accommodate any number of uses.

The best part is that Harmony Square will have events scheduled all year long, from summer to fall to winter to spring. And really, the sky’s the limit when it comes to what kinds  of events could be held there. Outdoor yoga? Absolutely. Live theater? Count us in. Yodeling competition? Eh, we’ll pass on that one, but you get the gist. Essentially, as long as it’s fun for the whole family, Harmony Square will be the place to have it.

Plans also include the construction of new buildings that will neighbor the plaza, including a replica of the historic Teehan’s Tavern building, which was originally constructed in the 1850s. We hope you’re not afraid of heights, because there will even be another restaurant with a rooftop bar where people can watch all the fun unfold below from a more cloud-adjacent perspective.

Construction is under way as we speak, so it won’t be long before you can start enjoying your new home away from home!

If you’re like us, you love your living room. But an upgrade never hurt anyone, and Harmony Square is shaping up to be the biggest and best one yet. We can’t wait!
